FAQ
What type of wax do you use? At Wolf + Wick we only use Natural plant waxes, We use a variety of Coconut and Rapeseed, and Soy wax across all of our Candles and Melts. These waxes are completely natural and free from any paraffin, beeswax, palm, parabens and synthetic additives.
How much fragrance oil do you use? We use between 8-10% of fragrance oil in all our products.
What is FSC? All of our wood wicks are FSC certified. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, They are an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. FSC certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards. The FSC label ensures that the trees that are harvested are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally. You can check out the many other things they do in the link https://fsc.org/en/about-us
What is tunneling? Tunneling is when a candle only burns around the wick and the wax never melts to the edge of the jar. This can happen if you didn’t burn your candle for long enough on the first burn. You may get very slight tunneling (what we call hang up), and this can tend to resolve itself once the candle burns down the jar. But there can be times where the tunneling just keep worsening, once this happens it can be tricky to fix, so we do recommend that on each burn you always make sure to burn your candle until the wax has melted to the very edge.
What is frosting? Frosting is when a white crystalline layer forms on the surface of natural waxes. Frosting is actually a unique and natural effect of using vegetable waxes, The wax is trying to return back to its natural form and as a result it begins to crystallize. Frosting doesn’t affect the performance of the candle/melt in any way and just means your wax is 100% natural.
Why won’t my wood wick light? If your wick won’t light or stay lit, the chances are that charred part of the wick has not been removed sufficiently. Wood wicks need to be kept short for them to burn properly. We recommend that you allow the candle to cool and then remove any excess charred wood from the wick, be sure to remove any wick cuttings/debris from the melt pool of your candle before lighting again.
Why does my wood wick candle not crackle? Your candle may not crackle on its first burn. This is completely normal, as the candle burns down the jar you will notice the crackling more. Some fragrances crackle more than others and even some of the same fragrances crackle more. Wood wicks are a natural product and no two wicks are exactly the same, the level of crackling will differ from each candle.
